On 13th December 2012, the Grade-5 students of Presidium spent a whole day at the rural setting on the banks of longest lake in Delhi – the BHALSWA LAKE making it one of their most unforgettable and riveting experiences. The move was initiated as a part of the Project Based Learning (PBL) activity to instill the feel of ‘Learning by doing’ among the students. After a pre-vigilance of the place themselves, teachers were convinced that the horse-shoe shaped lake, is an ideal site for a thorough understanding of several ecological facts. The students were thrilled and sensitized with the information that they gathered. The objective was to study the lake and its impact on plants, animals, people, and surroundings. Some of the Presidians interviewed the residents of the nearby village to understand the usage and importance of the lake water to them. Additionally, this deliberate effort also helped to create a feeling of sensitivity and relatedness towards the environment amongst the students. Special acknowledgement to faculty members for inducting such a stirring visit for the students. It was gratifying to see each of the young learners puffing up their minds and confidence with this Extraordinary Experience.
In support of outpouring public anger against the ghastly incident that has left everyone shaken and distressed, a valiant Presidian, Riya of class VIII voiced her opinion on this issue on Indias leading news channel- NDTV. She asserted that our society at large need to change and instead of condemning the rape victims, they should extend all support to them. Moreover, she strongly raised a valid question that – Why is eve teasing not considered to be very serious sexual crime in a country where women are worshipped as Durga and Lakshmi, Indian goddesses. Her call for action definitely prompted the need for changing culture in India where women are not routinely devalued rather given stature of reverence and respect. Kudos to the young Presidian , who proved from her stand that she is truly a Leader of Tomorrow.

Leaders are made, they are not born. The investiture ceremony on 12th September 2012 is its perfect example. First time in the history of schools such a grand investiture ceremony was organized. It was amazing to see the children getting the acknowledgements and becoming a proud member of Presidium’s Student Council. The Presidium fraternity has crowned the leaders of tomorrow. The individual attention given by Sudha maam to each and every student by calling him/ her in the centre stage was appreciated by most of the parents. The sharing by the parents and the Presidians touched everybodys heart. They shared how the children were not even noticed in their previous school and the way they are being groomed in Presidium which has finally made them The Leader today. After all, Destiny is not a matter of chance, but of choice. Not something to wish for, but to attain. And at the same time The Chosen ones even realized that authority alone has not been passed on to them, they are even responsible for their teams. They have to be the guiding source... the torch bearers for all the other students. It was not only the children who felt acknowledged but also the CLUB MENTORS and the STARMAKERS team who felt on top of the world. They thought it was a big honour given to them. The parents and the school management look up to this team to nurture the talent of the future of our country. Needless to mention, the STARMAKERS will definitely leave no stone unturned to accomplish this mission. Not to forget the cultural events that created a beautiful aura! A firm believer in education and a well known diplomat, scholar and above all a teacher, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan gave us a reason to celebrate Teacher's Day on 5th September every year. It is the same day he was born which is celebrated across countries, marking him a tribute for the contribution he has made to the society. Teachers look forward to celebrate this occasion no less than the students. It is a day for every student to honor his teacher and acknowledge them for all that they have learned in life. Their efforts need to be recognized as they too need encouragement and accreditation for shaping up the future of every individual. Mother's Pride and Presidium was no less in doing the same.
