WORLD MALALA DAY OBSERVED AT PRESIDIUM
To honour the efforts of the famous young social activist, Malala Yousafzai, towards gender equality and female education, Presidians observed ‘World Malala Day’. Malala is the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate, who through her social leadership braved the Taliban and took a stand on equal education for everyone. Yousafzai's efforts have grown into an international movement since 2012, when she was shot by the Taliban for disobeying the edict banning girls from attending school. In honour of her contribution, the United Nations declared, 12th July as ‘World Malala Day’, in 2013.
Education transforms life; it is a basic human right for all and its access should be for everyone irrespective of gender, caste or creed. With the understanding that education is the basic human right and its access should be for all without any discrimination, Presidians drew inspiration from Malala and enacted her life, thoughts and courage. Such efforts sensitize students towards the pressing issues faced by the world today and help them appreciate the contribution such leaders, who irrespective of their age made a difference in this world and worked towards shaping a better society.

Mrs. Gupta’s Motivating Workshop on “Curriculum for Being” for Teachers
Mrs. Gupta believes that “To create an extraordinary life for our future generations, the education system and schools need to adopt the 'Curriculum for Being' and focus on emotional development in children”. As teachers lay the foundation for students' future, educating them on the concept of curriculum for being is the path towards enhancing the emotional quotient of students. With the belief that emotional strength is the mother of all life skills, an enriching workshop was conducted by her for the Presidium teachers, wherein, she highlighted that positive attitude and emotional strength will define the ability to stand strong through challenging times in life and also open the possibility to put to use the learnt skills to deal with situations. Living life with an optimistic outlook and 'never give up' approach can bring remarkable results. She further shared her five powerful mantras to accomplish that very 'positive attitude'.
During the session, the teachers agreed that “self belief and the attitude of 'I Can' play a greater role than IQ. Life has its ups and downs, but no matter what, emotional strength is the key to emerge triumphant. The mantras proved to be magically inspiring for the teachers and a treasured knowledge bank that they would pass on to their students year after year to help them achieve their highest potential.
PRESIDIANS EXPLORE, DISCOVER & LEARN ON THE TREK TO NAGTIBBA
Outdoor trips and treks when combined with leadership centric and challenging adventure activities are not just fun but also result in building the students’ personality; enhancing team spirit; inculcating leadership qualities; and encouraging self exploration. That is exactly what the trek to the 3022 metres high peak of lesser Himalayan region, Nagtibba, Uttarakhand, offered to our students this summer.
The trip was chock-a-block with various exciting activities like rock climbing, rappelling, trekking to green forest, team bonding games, and goal setting exercises. They also learnt about the rural environment and the life style of the villagers. The trip was an enriching experience for the students as they learnt to deal with real life situations, take responsibility and initiative for the benefit of the members of their community.
CREATIVE TEACHING-A PATHWAY TO ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
An enriching and informative workshop on ‘Teaching-Learning Processes’ was conducted by Mr. Palety, Chief Executive of C Fore, a multidisciplinary research organisation which specializes in election surveys, market research, opinion polls and performance appraisal of educational institutions. In the workshop, Mr. Palety talked about the importance of creativity in the field of education with the teachers of Presidium. It was established that working upon the creative faculty of children can lead to academic excellence. Emphasis was also laid on innovative teaching methods, such as ‘Team Learning’, ‘Collaborative Learning’ and various other practices being followed across the globe in the field of education. The positive relation between creativity and academic achievement is a significant lesson for the education fraternity and an important guiding light for developing teaching methodologies for new age India.
TEACHER TRAINING KEY IN RAISING LEADERS
Teachers build the capacities and capabilities of students. A teacher’s empowerment directly reflects on students’ learning. Following this principle, our teachers ensure that they continue to learn to be able to teach better. This summer they undertook enriching and knowledgeable workshops with a series of discussions, interactions and video presentations so as to augment their ability in identifying different ways in which they can fortify students’ strength and raise them as future leaders. Such well-designed training programmes lead to enhanced teaching-learning process inside and outside the classrooms. The teachers also recognise that their role is not limited to the cognitive development of the student, but they also play a crucial role in the emotional development and psychological wellbeing of the child. These workshops pay special attention towards enhancing their expertise in motivating and counselling students and pave the way for shaping powerful leaders and successful achievers.
