“Literacy unlocks the door to learning throughout life, is essential to development and health and opens the way for democratic participation and active citizenship” - Kofi Annan
To mark a day that highlights the fact that each individual, irrespective of caste, class, colour etc, has the right to education and a right to be literate, the students at Presidium commemorated the 52nd World Literacy Day by conducting a special assembly. Presidians presented speeches highlighting the importance of education for the growth of an individual as well as the country. A skit was performed showcasing the difficulties an uneducated person faces. The assembly concluded with a pledge to help spread the elixir of knowledge and literacy.
