On 13th December 2012, the Grade-5 students of Presidium spent a whole day at the rural setting on the banks of longest lake in Delhi – the BHALSWA LAKE making it one of their most unforgettable and riveting experiences. The move was initiated as a part of the Project Based Learning (PBL) activity to instill the feel of ‘Learning by doing’ among the students. After a pre-vigilance of the place themselves, teachers were convinced that the horse-shoe shaped lake, is an ideal site for a thorough understanding of several ecological facts. The students were thrilled and sensitized with the information that they gathered. The objective was to study the lake and its impact on plants, animals, people, and surroundings. Some of the Presidians interviewed the residents of the nearby village to understand the usage and importance of the lake water to them. Additionally, this deliberate effort also helped to create a feeling of sensitivity and relatedness towards the environment amongst the students. Special acknowledgement to faculty members for inducting such a stirring visit for the students. It was gratifying to see each of the young learners puffing up their minds and confidence with this Extraordinary Experience.
